why would you share the money with her? Did the car belong to her? Did she pay for the car? Was it a gift? Or were you jsut giving her a car so she could have something to drive? Why do you want to reward her for cracking up the car by giving her money? What do you want her to do with the money or what do you think she will do with the money? I assume you are going to tell her you sold the car but, why do you think you should give her the money? Does she have any say in the situation? Does she care what happens to the car? If she does, you'd think she'd be aware of the fact that you are selling the car without you having to tell her. Where does she think the car is going? Is she at all going to be responsible for the fact that you lost the 8G investment you made? I would sooner let my child know that she will have to pay back at least some of it in some way. It's not like you gave her 8G to spend however she chose. You bought a car for her and she reduced it's worth from 8G to 1.5G. Is that something good?

Sell it, keep the money for yourself and tell her that if she wants another car to get a part time job and buy one for herself. Otherwise, what will she learn about responsibility?

If the wreck wasn't her fault then I would hold the money until shes able to buy another car but if its her fault then I would keep the money.

Put the money in savings towards another car. If you save a good amount you can get real low monthly payments on a goooood car……..something that will not bend like aluminum. And then just tell her what the plan is.

Have her get a job… she now owes you the repair cost. And, I sure wouldn't let her drive my car again. Don't give her a dime, she is the one who should pay you.

Keep the money for yourself. It was yours to start with. Don't buy her another car. She needs to earn it herself.

i would not give some money to my son or daughter if they wrecked it so be a real mom and tell your daughter that she has to buy her own car.

That is a sticky situation. Although, I would NOT share the money personally. She wrecked the car that YOU bought. Let this be a life lesson to her. Let her work and buy her own car, with her own money this time. 8,000 dollars is a lot of money to spend on a car for a first time driver. You were nice enough to buy her that car, she wrecked it, she pays the consequence. She now can learn what life is really like and buy her own car like a big girl.
