Salvaged title?

I have a 1999 Chevy Malibu with 89,000 miles on it. I got in a car wreck where someone rear ended me which caused me to rear end the car in front of me. My air bags came out but other than that the car is in perfect condition. Alot of cars dont even have air bags. The insurance considered it a total loss and I am now having to get a salvage title. If I decide to sell this car later on in the future how much could I get for it?

It all depends on who buys it. Some people won't be interested, others will only buy it for much cheaper than the actual value of the vehicle. Others don't really know the difference. If you keep records of what was damaged on the car, and the fact that the only reason it was totaled was because of the airbags, then it shouldn't affect the resale price too much. Just make sure you keep records and receipts. Get the airbags replaced, and you shouldn't have too much of an issue.

If your insurance company considered it a total loss, I would assume they did that for a reason. Must be more damage than you can see.

next to nothing, maybe a couple hundred dollars. A salvaged car is almost worthless.

At my insurance company salvage vehicles are worth 40% of their value before. Ugh, i cant believe you would even consider keeping it after! ill never get some people..

It is really hard to find some one who really would by a salvage title, and the price is just a dependent on the cars condition, i would say for a $2000 car its something between $700 to $1200!
My sugestion is to talk with your insurance and tell them you dont want a salvaged car because it just wasnt salvage title before that accident, tell them you dont want the car, so they pay you the value of the car and they just take it away! ( i just realized that my suggestio is good if you have a full coverage insurance or you were not in fault, but to my you were in fault if the rear car pushed you to the front car.)
