Buying Wrecked Cars – Should You Do It?
SweepstakesHound.com asked:
I'm looking for a used car and have noticed that cars that have an accident history (via Carfax) have a considerably lower price…some with fairly low miles.

If a car has been repaired and is back to normal is it ok to buy one or should you avoid them regardless of what kind of accident they were in?
Seems like as long as a car was repaired…what difference would it make?

Try to avoid repaired cars, my advice would be to by a damaged car, so you can see the damages for yourself. Then, oversee the repairing of this car. It'll still be very inexpensive.

It could work, but I'd get an independent car shop to inspect the car before you buy. Also be aware that if / when you decide to sell the car, it will impact the selling price.
However, I have some good friends that have bought several salvage cars and have driven them w/o issue for several years.
You also may take into consideration that some banks may not want to finance the car for you.
But if you have it inspected and are willing / able to pay cash for it, you should be good to go.

Something could have been looked over. It's never good to get a car that you know was in an accident. Would you rather get a good deal now and pay more later or pay more now and know that you're getting your money's worth? The choice is your though. Good luck!

sometimes it doesn't make any difference, other times the car may look great but be completely messed up. Best bets are to stay away from salvage titled cars.

As long as the car has had not any frame damage and it was mostly cosmetic damage, than it is ok. The problem with buying a car that has been in a bad accident is that it becomes significantly weaker. Make sure that the car has not been in such bad accident that they had to alter the frame significantly. Good luck!

Make sure you know what was done to it after the wreck.
How long it sat waiting, and what was the extent of the damage?
If it had the frame pulled, stay away.

like Tema said. Alot Russians here they go 2 auctions and buy demaged cars, they look at the demage and if its not that bad they buy them and repair them. Which comes to be not very expensive for a good car. So you should buy a demaged car see what kind of damage , if it's not that bad, repair it and it will cost you less then buying a fixed car. or, you can buy a demaged car, fix it, and sell it twice as much (if its a good european car) and buy a brand new car
